in space, no one can hear you struggle to open doors (un: aqua)

[ What up Reverie Terminal, it's your glowy superdad back on the network again. Apollo is looking pensive today and not quite his usual sunny self. Next to him is someone who's making his first public appearance: Kaldur'ahm faces the camera, gills at his neck clearly visible, a reserved smile on his face. He gives a nod. ]

As you all know, several areas of the station remain inaccessible to us. I believe several people have been talking about ways to open them or attempting to do so already. Brute force may be a means to gain access to a central command deck or something similar. If enough of us work together, especially those of us stronger or superpowered, we may be able to get through.

[ Here, he glances at Apollo, who adds after a beat: ]

Dirk raised a good point: what if those doors have been locked off for a good reason? What if there's something on the other side that needs to be locked away like, I don't know, a pathogen? Or whatever it is that's wiped out the original station crew?

[ Apollo lifts a hand, as if to stem an imaginary silent protest: ]

I'm not saying we shouldn't still give it a go, because after that video Henryk received it's been made pretty clear to us that we need to get off this ship as soon as possible. But it's something we should maybe be prepared for.

So what we're asking is whether or not there's anyone out there who's good at forcefields? Or might have some insight in to how we should tackle this? Just in case we open a door and, uh. Regret it.

[ Apollo frowns a little, determination replacing the pensive expression from before. ]

So there you have it. I know Amos has some good ideas about creating an airlock in case we open a door to an unpressurised deck. But has anyone else got any ideas? [ to which Kaldur adds: ] We would welcome your thoughts and input.

[Mike's face appears, mouth thin, a vee between his brows. Not quite a frown, but he definitely has thoughts.]

Have you got any fail-safes set for it things go FUBAR? Containment and quarantine protocols?

[Well that's unfortunate, his face says as much. But a little twitch if his eyebrows and tilt of his head beat later seems to also so say he's not surprised.]

I suppose if there were, maybe the previous poor bastards would still be here. [A breath, and then he straightens, and draws on his unfortunate amount of real-world experience.]

You'll want to know if the immediate area can be locked down, and if it can't be in it's current state, how you can make it so. You'll want to set your 'Tits Up' protocol before you pop the lid on that thing and then make sure you have a way to get those instructions out in mass.

You sound like you've got experience in this kind of thing.

[ Apollo leans towards the video feed, intrigued. ]

Do you think it will be enough if we just shut off some off the corridors around the door we decide to focus on? Or should we ask people to evacuate the whole deck?

I can set up something.
It's like a forcefield.

But I don't think it would do anything against pathogens or possible infections. I've never tested it that way.

[A low snort, his expression flattening.]

So you could say.

[His eyes shift, focus turning inward as he considers the proposal.]

How likely do you really think the hazard is? And how it might be transmitted - air, water, direct contact.... You have any MOPP gear?

still working on it. Been running through vac suits to make sure they're all functional.

You're looking to get into the ops deck? I need engineering. But I can set you up with an airlock. close up the section of the deck you'll be working in, make sure whoever's in there with you has a vac suit, pop the door. If it's a vacuum on the other side, only the section locked off will depressurize.

I can also provide backup since I've got a weapon, in case you're worried there's something behind it.

[This guy understood like zero of that but he absolutely hones in on the mention of brute force.]

If force is needed to open a new path, I can assist if a writing tool is provided.

I don't know if I like the idea of forcing one of the doors open. Like you said, there might be something worth locking away behind them, and then we might not have a way to shut it again.

Seems like you've got a few ideas for containment, but if you need more back up, count me in. If I could find my armor, then we'd really be in business.

As I told Apollo before, I will offer my strength. I've been conserving it as much as I'm able to.

I'm not concerned about any contaminants effecting me, specifically, but I am concerned about others. If there's a way to protect the rest of the station, then I will be satisfied.

[ Erik frowns in thought, and concern, as he watches the video. There seems to be something more than the issue of the doors weighing on Apollo, but this is hardly the time to bring that up.

The issue here is to determine how to get himself involved in this without revealing what would make him best suited to it. First, because if there is an emergency, he's the best suited on the station to save all of them as quickly as possible. Second, because he really wants to know what's behind those damned doors. ]

I'd like to accompany the party on this attempt, if I may. I have the most metalwork expertise, if that ends up being necessary. And I'm good at worksite safety.

[ A little too good, in the end. ]

What about concentrating on doors in areas that can be sealed off?

We might need to ask people to evacuate one of the habitat rings, or part of one, but there are enough closing doors that it might be possible to enter a portion of the station, seal it behind you, and then treat it as quarantined for a period of time.

What do you think we do instead of forcing them?

[ If he sounds blunt, it's because he's fed up of sitting around while people he likes disappear without a trace. It's not a good feeling. ]

Wait for them to open of their own accord? We've been here for two weeks. The situation is dangerous. We need to do something to find the command deck.
