[The video comes on to show a small group of people. Alex is in front, obviously doing the filming, but behind him are two women - Naomi Nagata and Bobbie Draper - and one man - Amos Burton. You may have met some of them. A little behind them stands Prax Meng, who is looking very awkward, and Joe Miller, who is visibly rolling his eyes.]

Hey there cowboys and cowgirls. [ Alex’s characteristic texan drawl is easy and smooth, and despite the fact that there’s currently no gravity, he doesn’t sound worried.] Hope ya’ll had your magboots on.

Looks like somethin’ in the station’s centrifugal system is jammed up. That’ll be why ya’ll found your breakfast start floatin’ this mornin’. Ya ain’t gonna die, so no panickin’, but we’re gonna need all hands on deck to sort this one out. Now me and my crew here have a lot of experience with space-walk maintenance, but this is a big station. Ain’t no way we can do this by ourselves. But we wanna make sure anyone that’s venturin’ outside isn’t gonna get themselves hurt.

[He raises a hand.] Now my name’s Alex, and these here are Naomi, Bobbie and Amos. [He points to each of them in turn.] We can check over your gear and make sure it ain’t gonna start leakin’ oh-two on ya while you’re out there. We’ll be headin’ out ourselves, but at least one of us’ll be by an airlock at all times.

If anyone is havin’ problems with the weightless side of things - you just give one of us a shout and we’ll try t’ get you set up. Basic rules are - you’re gonna keep goin’ in any direction you are propelled in. Easiest thing is to just use your magboots to get around, but if you’ve gone and gotten yourself caught without ‘em, make sure you stay within arm’s reach of a wall or bolted-down-object at all times, else you’re gonna find yourself floatin’ uselessly with no way of gettin’ t’ anything.

[He pauses, looking back at the group.]

That about it? [ He waits a couple seconds, but no one adds anything, so he looks back in the camera. ]

Alright. Let’s get this show on the road.

[ The feed winks out. ]

To my knowledge none of the sentient races have mastered teleportation. [ and Luke's projection trick absolutely doesn't count. ]

There's little point in dwelling on it. I'm not there right now and am unlikely to be returning any time soon.

None of the sentient races? You mean aliens, right?

[ He let out a breath at the last, and raised a finger. ]

We'll get you home. Somehow. We all got here, so there's gotta be a way to get back. You just gotta keep your chin up.

[ a soft noise, something caught between amusement and surprise. ]

It's a vast galaxy and mankind hardly has the market cornered on ingenuity.

[ which isn't to say they aren't strong contenders, mind. Corellia and Kuat remain industrial titans even decades after the fall of the Empire. ]

The reassurance is unnecessary.

[ He lets out a whistle all the same, because, man, alien shit is stuff he's only just now getting used to.

To the second part, he says: ]

Necessary or not, it's still offered. But that because you're confident, or because you don't have much hope in it at all?

[ give him time, he will blow your mind, son. ]

I would like to think the Force has a greater plan in store than my dying here.

[ that and he is absolutely prepared to tear through every door he finds, regardless of the words had about that sort of thing, if necessary. ]

[ Even over audio, he could hear the capital F. ]

[ ㅡ ah, well. ]

The energy field that surrounds and binds all living things to each other.

... Huh. Think I heard someone else talkin' about somethin' similar, but I can't put my finger on who it -- Wait, yeah, it was Revan, when he was doin' his weird magic trick.

It doesn't quite sound like God, though.

Unsurprising, given Revan is from my ㅡ [ what was the agreed upon word for this, exactly? ] corner of the galaxy. [ more or less. ]

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that he'd be showing off given his initial network. Most are generally not so blatant about what they can do.

And that's because it isn't.

He's a god damned wizard, is what he is. Ain't any other way I can explain it.

So - is it like gravity, then? That kind of force?

[ Sorry, he's trying... ]

He is certainly unique.

[ Difficult to tell whether that's meant as a compliment or not. His opinion of Revan seems to be in a constant state of revision. ]

Or oxygen.

[ He frowns to himself. Oxygen wasn't a force, exactly, but he thinks he understand what Kylo means.

Sort of. ]

But it's what let Revan do the things he can do, right?

... Does that mean you can do all that, too?

[ It's not a perfect comparison by any stretch, but it's the best he can think of quickly. ]

His ability to tune into it, yes.

[ a pause, then: ] That would depend on what he did.

Made the god damn bottle and glasses float right down to me. [ The way he says it, it's clear that this blew his goddamn mind. ]

It was like watchin' someone push somethin' in zero gee, but without ever touchin' it, and then the damn thing just poured.

[ He's not precisely sure what he'd expected, but is relieved nonetheless that it would be something relatively simple and harmless. Ordinarily, it wouldn't pose much of a concern but confinement and paranoia has never mixed well. ]

Then, yes.

[ He lets out a low whistle. Sure, it might be something simple and harmless to Kylo - but it had broken every law of physics that Alex knew. Like something right out of a fairy tale. ]

Damn.

I can't even imagine bein' able to do that. Anythin' like that. What's it like?

Like pouring out a glass.

[ It's said like the answer should really be obvious, even though Alex's curiosity is hardly unexpected. Welcome, even. ]

Well - either way, it's damn useful to us, if it means that you guys can deal with things that we couldn't get to, otherwise.

Precision has never been a problem for me. [ Which is what made Revan's initial network so amusing, perhaps. ]

That's what I expected. If nothing else I'll be good for providing cover.

Yeah. Also necessary. There's a good chance that whatever it is that's blockin' up the ring as it is, there's probably more pieces of it on this orbit, too. We might get hit by some more shrapnel as it goes.
