To give you the briefer version, an alien tyrant used Crocker Corp to get a foothold into humanity's psyche and, with corporate influence and a facade of an external threat, incited the collapse of human civilization into a fascist self-annihilation spiral. Violent suppression of dissenters, concentration camps, water supply replaced by Faygo, that kind of thing. That got rid of the vast majority of the population without Her Imperial Condescension even needing to get involved. After that, she finished the ice cap melting for us, made the majority of the planet uninhabitable to humans, and engaged in experiments and disruption of human social groups, before eventually neglecting us for a more easily managed species. Humanity just couldn't make it at that point. There was no chance of rebuilding. So it's just me and a friend of mine.
