[Keith’s image comes on screen before it disappears once he realizes the device on his arm also has a video feed. Instead, he makes sure the thing transmits only his voice which sounds anything but happy right now.]

What--... What is this? What happened? [This time.] Is anyone getting this?...

[Two seconds.]

Guys...?

[A second and a half.]

C’mon! Lance? Pidge?...

[A second.]

[Half a second.]

Technically, humans are gem in shape. We've been around a lot longer than humans have. And I came back because there's no point in flying around the depths of space with no idea what part of the universe I'm in. Also because we're probably all from different universes anyway.

[Huh.] So... You guys have managed to stay safe from the Galra Empire?

[And that just makes him snort.] Well, beats being stuck here, mainly when you don't seem to know why that's even a thing, yet. [But, he guesses, she does have a point. At least, without a ship.

... And then she mentions them all being from different universes and his eyes widen a little.] So--... [And he lowers his voice a little. It's unconscious, and it's not quite a whisper, but it still feels like, whatever he is saying next, is akin to a secret.] You're aware of that, too? Alternate realities?

[She raises an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.] I don't know who or what the 'Galra' empire is, but I'm pretty sure if they existed back home, Gems would have wiped them off the starmaps. We're just kind of like that.

[It's bad, but Lapis seems entirely unconvinced.]

And it really doesn't beat being here. Sometimes things happen that are amusing, for one. And I wasn't aware of it until I got here? It's kind of obvious when everyone is from all over the place.

[And that just makes him frown. It's surprising that she never heard of the Galra, but it's more alarming, to Keith, what she says next.]

... What do you mean?

[And, well. He supposes that does make sense, so he doesn't really dwell on it any longer.]

There's like thirty humans here from Earth, but none of them are from the same Earth.

[... Yeah, he got that part.]

I meant-- About how your race 'just kind of is like' the sort to 'wipe others off the starmaps'. Are you... Conquerors?

[mirrortide]

Yeah. Generally speaking most gems don't care about organic life at all. Which is, you know, sort of most of the universe when it comes down to it.
