reverienet | un: keith || video followed by voice

[ Lance hasn't stopped moving since he woke up. He really only started fumbling with the device to make it shut up, but then there's a familiar name right at the top. So he clicks on it, starting the video feed. Lance looks, in a word, alarmed. The top portion of his ugly blue jumpsuit is visible, logo and all. He's apparently still walking, eyes shifting from the feed to his surroundings every once in a while. The background looks like a slightly grimy, metal corridor. ]

Keith?! Keith are you there?

Lance?! Finally!

[Unlike Lance, Keith hasn't been moving around at all. He is staying close to the area where he woke up and has been messing with the device ever since. Which, to be fair, hasn't been that long ago.

He does turn on the video feed the moment he sees Lance, though.]

Where are you?! Is anyone else with you?

[... He seems to be wearing the same sort of jumpsuit Keith is wearing, too.

... What's going on here...?]

Lots of people are getting it your message loud and clear.

--This is live! Oh good.

[ He was kind of worried it'd be a recording, like the thing he heard on loop. ... Kind of scared to really be alone here. Wherever here is. He shakes his head. ]

I don't know. It's just me, I woke up in some hallway... I don't remember how I got here. [ He blinks, squints, closes in on the feed. ] ... What's ... Reverie Terminal?

[Yeah, doesn't ring a bell. But he sees Keith on the other side of this, panicking out, and he's probably talking about his friends or whoever he was with back at the point he arrived.

Ryuji's not that great at comforting or anything, but he gives an answer regardless.]

I'm pretty hunky and shit, but I doubt that's what you're lookin' for here.

Alright, dude. First thing you're gonna wanna do is stop freaking out and take a deep breath. You ain't in danger or anything.

[Keith isn't scared, per se, but he is worried. The message that he kept hearing on loop didn't help with that, either. 'We tried to save the world.'... Who's 'we'? And what 'world'? And if they did the opposite of saving it...

Though, what's really worrying him right now is the fact that no one else seems to be responding at all. He hasn't heard from Shiro or his mom, either. He doesn't like this one bit.]

... Same. [Which. Isn't surprising.] I-- Huh? [What's wh--

Oh.

Keith squints a little and approaches the feed, too, before moving back with an eyebrow up.] ... Reverie Terminal... [It doesn't ring a bell.] ... No idea.

I guess--... It's probably where we are?

[... Is Lance still moving around?]

[... Well. That's one race he hasn't seen before.]

... Who are you?

[... Okay, any other day that would actually have been funny. Like, a six. It would get a snort out of him, at the very least. Perhaaaaps even a small smirk. But uh, not right now.

Instead he is going to be slightly taken aback by the everything that follows. He is not freaking out, okay?! They have something important they need to do and they can't lose time with any of this BS, so if he is here and the other Paladins aren't, then something is very wrong. Very, very wrong. ~~Okay, so maybe he is freaking out a bit.~~]

Who are you? Are you the one who brought us here?!

[ Lance hasn't put a whole lot of thought into the loop. He doesn't know what to do with it, how to deal with it. It makes no sense to him, so for now, he disregards it, beyond the general sense of alarm.

He slowed down to peer at Keith, but is still walking. When Keith leans close, he does finally take a closer look at this terrible overall, finally spotting the logo on himself as well. ] I guess... Never heard of it before. You?

[ And then his steps finally slow to a stop, while his eyes lift from the hologram and move past it, widening. ] Huh... uh, Keith? I got good news and bad news.

Nope.

[Haven't even read about it. No idea what this place is.] What's the last thing you remember?

[And then the camera (finally) comes to a stop on Lance's end... Though he seems to be looking beyond the feed. It actually makes Keith look behind himself - nothing there, just a metal wall with another one of those logos - before he looks back at Lance.

There's a hint of frustration in his voice when he answers: not the time for this, Lance.] What is it?

[ It's such a regular Earth-language-sounding name, too. Weird. Well, moving on. ]

Uhh... us deciding to go back to Earth? I guess... I mean it feels like there'd have to be something after that. Considering I woke up on the floor in a place I don't remember, wearing an ugly overall I've never seen in my life. [ Frustrated gesturing-- which treats Keith to a view of the ceiling for a second. ]

And well... I found a view. So... we're definitely near a planet. Which means we're on a ship or a space station. From what I can see of the thing it doesn't look Galra... or Altean, or... much of anything I guess.

Buuuuuut I have no idea what planet that is.

Lapis Lazuli. And you must be someone who doesn't know how to send private messages.

[It's cool, he wasn't expecting a laugh out of whoever's on the end of this anyway; he's a bit jaded about the arrival experience after being here for a few months already.

(It also definitely sounds like he's freaking out)

But really, to think that he was the one who had to do with any of this? His brows furrow upward.]

No chance in hell dude, I'm stuck here just like everyone else. And the next question you got, yeah, we also don't know how to get off. We ain't anywhere near Earth, if that's where you're from, too. And, uh. Name's Ryuji Sakamoto.

... Yeah.

[It's the same, for him. That's the last thing he remembers, too. But, like Lance, he feels like there should be more. How did they go from that to this? And where is everyone else?

But, well, there's Lance. Gesturing. He almost tells him to stop, but he isn't staring at the ceiling for too long, so he doesn't, listening instead to what he has to say.

A ship or space station, huh? As Lance mentions it, Keith looks around the place he is at for a bit. He is right, of course. This doesn't look Galra... Or Altean. In fact--...] The power system... [He looks up, at the ceiling, eyes going around for a bit, before--] ... Kind of looks...

... Human-made. [Doesn't it? It might not be, but-- Weird. It seems pretty close, doesn't it? But that's impossible. He frowns.]

Can you feel your lion at all?

Private-- What? [Lady, that's the least of his worries right now.]

Where are we? Are you the one who brought us here?

[ It doesn't make sense. Who would be able to just pluck them out of that situation and dump them here? Is there something he's missing? ... Is this actually real right now?

But he's getting too absorbed in looking out of the window. Two moons. Unfamiliar planet. Yellowish sun, at least. He can't see the stars well from this angle, but then he's never tried super hard to memorize constellations. Wouldn't recognize them even if he could see them. He can't see the planet that well either, all he knows is that the specific mix of colors isn't one he knows... but what Keith says snaps him out of his thoughts. ] Human-made? That's crazy, we don't have this kind of station... definitely not somewhere outside our solar system. Right?

[ It's not their solar system, after all. He's sure of that much! As for the next question, he shakes his head. ] No. Nothing. Like he's not even there. You?

... Stuck in here?

[Keith's eyes widen at that, not that the other guy would be able to see it.] What do you mean--... What? [What-- What does that mean, exactly? They don't know how to get off?

... Are they being held prisoners somewhere? That would explain the ridiculous clothes. But. How? Why? ... What?

Not being anywhere near Earth doesn't surprise him. He'd be more worried if they were. He is about to ask another question, when the guy gives him his name-- and makes a question of his own. Keith hesitates a second, before--] ... Keith.

[Wait. Stop. Rewind.

Ryuji Sakamoto? That sounds strangely Japanese.

-- And that's when it clicks. 'If that's where you're from, too'. There's nothing short of shock in Keith's expression.] You're--... You're from Earth?

[Honestly? He is beginning to wonder, too.]

I-- I don't know. I mean... I guess not? [It's been a while. But not long enough... right?] Anything else catches your eye?

[And then the answer to his question comes and it confirms what Keith feared. He grimaces.] Same. I can't feel Black at all. [Which. Yeah. Not good.]

Look-- I don't know what's going on, but whatever it is, we don't have time for it. We need to get out of here and find the others, fast. So give me directions and stay where you are. I'm coming to get you.

It'll uh. It'll take some time to sink in.

[Besides, dropping everything on him doesn't really do anyone any good, but some of the basics might be helpful. Ryuji can't even answer half of those questions anyway.]

Yeah. Well, Tokyo to be exact? Around 2016.

[Since there are people here from far behind and far beyond that year, he figures he might as well make that known to Keith, too.]

Nothing really. I mean. Planet, yellow sun, two moons. I can't see a lot like... details about the planet down there. Uh, unless you're asking about right here. Which... still nothing. I mean I guess, this corridor curves, so it might be a circle. Everything looks kinda... grimy? It's weird. Like, run down, which is both creepy and weird.

[ Lance cringes a little at the thought. It feels weirdly vulnerable to lose that connection... or maybe there's nothing weird about it. They are giant badass robot lions after all.

But then, Keith asks him for directions, and his expression goes from concerned to nonplussed in under a second. ] Directions? I don't even know where either of us is, assuming we're both on the same station, ship, thing! How am I supposed to give you directions?

I have better things to do than to kidnap people to some backwater part of the universe and make them live on a space station. So no, I didn't bring 'us' here. [Is he assuming because she's an alien??? Lapis thinks so, and she's not impressed.]

Also this is the Reverie Terminal. There's a planet below that's a lot more fun to be on, though.

[Wow.] Out of the ordinary. [Hence, 'catches your eye'. Planet, yellow sun and moons are not things they don't see everyday, dude!

... And then he is just sighing. Not feeling the lion definitely makes him feel uneasy. Mostly because he knows that that is not supposed to happen.

Aaaaand then Lance answers. Keith's expression, too, immediately changes. It's less serious now and more positively annoyed.]

Yeah, well, we gotta start somewhere. Do you have a better idea? [ :| ] And I don't know, Lance, maybe look around and see if there's anything written anywhere?

[Meanwhile, he starts moving, too. Hallway, more metal doors--... Ah, there's a-- Yeah. That's definitely a planet. A yellow sun. Two moons. Doesn't look familiar to him either.

... That does mean, however:] Is this the same angle you're seeing? [And he moves his hand, so Lance can get the same view he is getting out of the window.]

[... Kidnap? So they were kidnapped?] ... What part of the universe are we at? And who does this station belong to? [Sorry, nothing to do with that. He's assuming because he doesn't know you and you are making contact.]

What planet is it?

[ He waves him off. ] Hey, it could've jogged your memory! Whatever.

[ Okay that's it. ] I don't know, Keith, maybe you should start looking for any kind of anything yourself! [ Aggressively starts pacing down the corridor, not even bothering to keep the feed steady. Ugh.

Still, he stops in his tracks when the reply comes, still scowling but comparing anyway. ]

Nope. I'm definitely higher up than you. Also, you don't have windows from floor to ceiling, wherever you are.

[ He shows him the view in turn. ]

I've been calling it Susan. So I guess that's it's name since I was the first one to go there. [That. That isn't how it works. Or, it shouldn't be how it works.]

And I have no idea what part of the universe this is in. It's not held by Gems, and honestly I've been around for a long time, and I've never seen any star system like this.
