hi

i'm hajime hinata. from japan, earth. probably the most significant thing about it is a really prominent high school called hope's peak, known worldwide for cultivating talent, so if you've heard of it, that's something we have in common at least.

that's really not why i'm trying out this posting thing, though. i mean, you've all been thinking about it, right? what we're supposed to do now? nobody's in charge here. there aren't any objectives to clear. there aren't even any rules.

do we just... live here? is that supposed to be enough? are we supposed to solve the mystery of what happened on this station before we can go home, like some kind of stupid murder-mystery dinner?

i guess what i'm trying to get at is... yeah, what i said before. what do we do now? i've had enough of weird processed food and pulling open the walls in search of voices to get nothing but wires and stuff i don't understand.

Of course the biggest question here is “what next”. But I don’t believe that solving his mystery is going to be the answer to all of our problems here. Something much bigger than we understand is going on, that’s what I think.

If you want to keep busy I’m trying to find things to make a hydroponics garden, you could help? We could also fix things together, at the very least if we are to live here...let’s make it a livable environment!

i don't know anything about hydroponics... or gardening, for that matter. i can try to help, if you can teach me what to do. do you think we'll really be able to grow stuff here?

I probably shouldn’t have lead with that, huh? Sorry, Hinata-san. But it’s the reality we face now.

I can teach you, it’s trial and error. But I can definitely teach you. It will give you something to do when you need something to take your mind off of other things.

I try to be, there isn’t much use in letting your brain paralyze you out of fear. Though, I have my friends to thank for giving me the strength.

did you used to keep a garden at home? i never tried to grow anything. i never even really had a pet, not unless you count the hermit crab we passed around in elementary school.

you were able to make friends here so quickly, huh? i guess that's not too surprising

On my school's rooftop. It became something I took care of quite often. It went from being something I was asked to do... to something I took solace in every day.

My friends from home are here too. At least some of them are. The four of us have been through a lot together.

that's really cool. i don't think my school ever had anything like that. i wish they had.

[Maybe his talent was SHSL Gardening all along but he never got to do it?? Obviously.

His face falls a little bit on the other side of the screen. Oh.... so she does have friends already. Of course.]

oh, yeah? that's great! i'm a little jealous. i haven't found anyone who's even from the same earth as i am, let alone any of my friends.

It was sort of a side project that the school asked me to help with. But, I just kept doing it. Gardening just became an easy way to be myself for a while.

[Haru is definitely a troubled youth, but not troubled in the ways of some. She has far too many burdens to bear for a teenaged girl.]

The way people were taken to this place, you know to wonder... "why". Why and how. I could not begin to tell you why my friends and I ended up here almost as a whole.

....but that doesn't mean WE can't be friends, Hinata-san.

i get it. maybe not with gardening, specifically, but... it's nice to have something you can focus on to try to clear your head, right?

[Playing videogames with a friend is definitely the same as gardening, right? Sure.]

i think about it all the time. why me? i'm nobody special or important. there are a lot of incredible people here, it feels kind of easy to get overwhelmed.

i'd like that. who are your friends? maybe i know them already, too.

None of us are more special and important than another person here, Hinata-san. I think you may be setting the bar far too high for yourself. Don't you think?

[If anything, he's not setting it high ENOUGH. If he had a talent, Haru, then you'd see!!!

But it's a nice thought. Nice enough that he doesn't really want to change her mind, if that's really what she thinks. Especially since she isn't a SHSL herself, she probably isn't pitying him. She just doesn't get it, that's all.]

oh, sakamoto? i'm supposed to meet up with him later to help clean the pool. or try to, anyway. it looked pretty grimy when i investigated it before

[Of course she isn't giving him any pity, there is no reason for it. Everyone has something they are good at, and it's okay to not know what that is right away.

The funny thing is, Haru would never let her mind be swayed on such a subject. She is calling it like she sees it.]

Oh good, Ryuji-kun is actually a good ally to have on your side when he is motivated enough.

[Which is like all the time, Ryuji is always a good ally.]

i don't know if i can picture him NOT being motivated for something... he seems pretty optimistic

i can see why the two of you are friends.

[They just both really seem like optimists? That's nice. Maybe he could be like that someday (no).]

Well, I guess I should say our entire group is one in the same most of the time. All of us are very different, yet.... the same. If that makes any sense!

[They have the heart and fire of rebellion deep in their souls. It is what brought them together, and what will never tear them apart.]
