So uh
I see everyone got this bullshit list of bullshit. Or at least numerous people.
So here's the deal. You got this shit here that don't mean shit, like "Geoscience"? Is that even relevant to us right now? "Comms Officer". Yeah that sure as hell doesn't mean shit to anyone here. Sounds like some military crap, first of all. Here we are, everyone using the comms and I can't see anyone figuring out how to stop someone yet. "Quarter Master"? Who the fuck even cares.
Now "Chief Food Supplier" is something we direly need but seeing as all we have are those crappy food dispensers, I'm not entirely sure what you would even do. I think that could be reworded to "Head chef" too, unless one of you fuckheads want to fly your happy ass down to that planet over there and try to catch some real meat.
Anyway, that's all just unnecessary garbage, but what I'm trying to get at is that we HARDLY have what could pass as a society here, and I don't know about you, but ain't none of you paying enough to get me or like anyone with a shred of self-respect to be a goddamn "Waste Disposal Chief". We don't even have an economy here.
So, how 'bout we just set this shit aside and don't even think about it, honestly? If you want a roster so bad, take one of those books and write everyone's names down.

but maybe not the people we want caring.
if we even want a captain, or a quarter master, or anything like that.
which i kind of don't? haha.
actually it's not even kind of.
the idea of someone trying to make themselves captain...
legitimately pisses me off?
like, we don't need that. what are they even going to do?
aside from lord themselves over everyone to make themselves feel big.
ughhhhhh.
He's gonna voice at her text bcuz lazy sry venus
So like, I care too but I care in that I'm determined to stop it.
UGHHH FINE she'll switch because he's cool
Okay, yeah. It's basically the worst? I'm not really into the whole fighting thing, but I'd definitely... I don't know. TP them or something?
typing is too HARD for BOY WHO GREW UP IN THE 90s LET HIM LIVE
[All of those stupid and honest things was what he enjoyed about being human.]
But I guess TPing can work too. It gets the message across. I can handle the punching if we need to get into that.
TAP OUT THE LETTER MOTHERFUCKER YOU CAN LEARN A NOKIA
[ if it came down to it, she could - but god, does she hate the idea. unlike tping someone's room. she is so down to do it. ]
He can but he's too lazy!!!

You're right. Most of the positions on the list aren't applicable to us in the slightest. But they do tell us some pretty damning things about what might be going on here, don't they? I'm specifically thinking about that chief warden role.
The only place I can think that would have wardens sure isn't a space terminal. It's a prison.
audio | un: aphrodite
Yeah! Yeah, I was sort of wondering about that. Only... Okay, I'm still new to all this. Is a space terminal, like, a thing? Because I was definitely reading it as like. "Final stop." Reverie's final stop.
[ ... ]
Which actually sounds kind of menacing. When I say it out loud.

[ You can almost hear the bitter, wry smile in his voice as he continues: ]
"Reverie Terminal - where dreams come to die".

[ so maybe it is a space prison. you don't just get a name like that on accident, right? that's like, hilariously on the nose. but that leads to another question: why? slowly, she sounds out words as she thinks. ]
I know what I did, [ and the words are barely out of her mouth before she winces- he's not going to like hearing that from her, huh- ] but I can't honestly think of anything for a lot of the people here? I mean, like... Reasons they'd be in space prison.

[Yes he's actually going to pause to enjoy someone saying he's right.]
I figured it was some kind of prison, honestly. The shitty food tells you everything. Sure is nice of them to include a bar we can get to, though.

[ he pauses for a silent shrug ]
Just a theory. Hopefully a bad theory.

Either way, we're not the ones in those cells right now. I think we've got a number of other issues to manage before we start freaking out about hypotheticals.

We could stand to have some kind of common code of conduct or group goal, but those only stick if a majority believes in them.
People will probably gravitate to certain other people naturally. They won't be thought of as leaders at first, just reliable, trusted figures with good ideas and useful skills. Until that happens, forcing leaders through on unproven qualifications just creates conflict. It only took a few hours after that list appeared for people to start fighting on the network, and I don't want to live in cramped quarters with people who resent each other.
no subject
I feel like our group goal right now should be "figure out where the fuck we are and then go home", honestly. Not "get comfy and start assigning jobs".
Also I'm sorry but we're definitely going to be resenting each other if we gotta live here for any stretch of time. We're just a bunch of strangers forced to live together.
no subject
Rephrase. Resent each other more than is inevitable.

[Does it sound like he's pouting? He is a little.]
Hey question- how many robots do you think are up here?

Does Quarter Master mean the population lived under a military style command structure? The list seems to imply military control, with other researchers on board.
The word governor, in my world, implies someone governing a place on behalf of a colonial authority. So what people financed this research outpost, this expedition? Why did they let the station be abandoned? Are they still alive, or is theirs the world that ended?
no subject
I think if we could maybe... maybe it down to that planet out there, we might answer a couple questions. As it is, it seems like it was some kind of facility for researchers, what with the roster mentioning so many different kinds of scientists.
Perhaps even looking to terraform a new planet. Who knows? Whatever it is, it hacked into something else and now we're here.
no subject
[He was. She's just guilty of only listening with one ear. But apologetic glance aside, she pushes on to more interesting questions.]
Research, but with a small security presence.
What is terraforming?
no subject
Yeah. I mean it has a bar. How tight could security be? [He laughs at that.]
Terraforming is like. I mean. Humans get this idea in their head that they could space travel to a new planet, but maybe it's environment doesn't suit humanity. So they think maybe they can terraform it, so they uhhh... like. Change the atmosphere, grow some plants and shit, and bam, New Earth.
I haven't heard of it working before but some of these guys come from different worlds, so who knows?
