Alright, I won't waste anyone's time with pointless questions about how or why we got here, but there are a couple of things I'm looking for information about:

1. How many minors and noncombatants are aboard this station? Note, these are separate categories. I don't care how powerful or skilled you are; if you're under twenty, I consider you a member of the former.

2. It'll be helpful for us to have an idea of each other's Quirks. I'm not under the illusion that all of us have reason to trust each other or cooperate, but presumably none of us want to be here, so. If you're willing to provide information on any abilities you might have that could be considered "supernatural" in any way, I intend to compile it for our collective use.

Truth be told, without a sword or a longbow on hand I'm afraid I belong in the noncombatant category. I was a soldier once, but those days are nearly a decade past; I've been a commander for most of that time since, and while I can certainly hold my own in a fair fight, I can scarce survive an attack unarmed.

Hm, noted. I don't know what the situation is regarding the availability of weapons on this station, but I'll let you know if I find out. Refresh your hand-to-hand abilities in the meantime.

I'm afraid my training in hand to hand combat was nigh non-existent; I've trained primarily with a greatsword, a longbow, and to a small extent, a lance. I'm a knight, not a monk - I'm not sure where I'd begin to relearn whatever meager teachings I was given on the practice.

As a sidenote, I'm curious to know more about what you referred to in your previous message as 'quirks'. You've defined them as 'supernatural' abilities but I worry our definitions of 'natural' might differ greatly.

As for Quirks, we refer to anything that deviates from baseline human physiology as a Quirk. Someone might have an opposable tail, for instance, or they might be able to breathe fire. It's an all-purpose term.

You'd offer to train a stranger? I'd be grateful, though I wouldn't want to take up a great deal of your time.

I'm not human - I'm Elezen. And other races from my world exist, such as the Miqo'te, whom have tails. As for breathing fire, I've only ever seen the draconians do it, but aetheric manipulation of fire is something nearly anyone can learn if they have the talent and the training for it. I suppose this includes me, though similar to hand to hand, I've never been trained to use magic.

I did it for a living where I'm from, so it's not a particular imposition. Besides, time seems to be something I won't have any shortage of, around here.

For Hydaelyn, that is quite strange - I merely mention it, however, to put my question into perspective, since I am not sure what baseline abilities for humans are.

Not quite, but I'm sure my students wouldn't disagree with that particular epithet.

As for baseline human abilities, I suppose you could define them as what a person is capable of solely via hand-to-hand. Running, jumping, punching, kicking. That kind of thing. I don't keep track of the averages for that kind of thing when Quirks are factored of out the equation, but it should give you a general idea.

I think I have a general sense now, at least. Baseline, by your definition, would be those who cannot use magic - whose skills are limited to their physical capabilities alone.

I wouldn't say I can't use magic, only that I've never tried and would need extensive training. Whether you consider the capacity to learn these skills a 'Quirk' or not I suppose it up to your judgment.

That, and no abnormal physical features such as wings or claws or tails.

For the purposes I was asking, we might as well say you don't have one for now.

What kind of training would you need?

I've never studied the particulars of magecraft, I don't honestly know if I even have the aptitude for it. But I suppose were I to pursue it, I would need to find a discipline I'm suited for, a teacher versed in said discipline, a catalyst, and many moons of practice.

My hopes are that we do not spend the lengthy amount of time here that would be requisite for my learning to cast magic. Spending moons away from my home would be unthinkably perilous for the current state of affairs.

I see. My students have a variety of Quirks, so it was possible we could've included it in our training, but it sounds as if you need a teacher specifically familiar with your brand of "magic", so that's fine.

Or perhaps a few very good books on the subject, otherwise I may as well be reinventing the wheel. Regardless it may be fully better for me to stick with what I know; I like to believe I have some use outside of my capabilities for magic or combat.
