[V I D E O] [UN: CONNOR]
Hello.
[The standard jumpsuit immediately gave him away as a new arrival, his expression was neutral, but pleasant.]
I've been informed that introducing oneself in this manner is advisable to those who have recently found themselves on board.
My name is Connor. I am a CyberLife RK800 model android. [It was important to introduce himself this way. CyberLife androids, though very realistic, weren't ever supposed to be deceptive about their true natures. His carefully measured words and tone and even the way he moved, his expressions, all reinforced his claim. And, if there were any other doubts that he might not be an android, he had a small, circular LED on the side of his temple that flickered blue from time to time as he spoke.]
I've been granted access to all messages transmitted publicly over the inter-station network. There have been some very odd occurrences, not to mention our sudden arrival here, the locked areas of the station, and it's absent crew. I was hoping to discuss the theories that you all have regarding our presence here, especially if you have any evidence to support it.
I also wish to offer my assistance to anyone who is endeavoring to find out more about the station or a way for us to return to where we were brought here from.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I am mostly unfamiliar with the intricacies of the theory, but your explanation is adequate.
In your experience... how did you travel between universes? Do you believe this station is in a universe independent of the ones we have come from?
no subject
Anyway! I can't really speak for anyone else, but I do believe this space station is not in any of the universes I'm familiar with.
[She starts ticking off her fingers as she answers:] My universe did not have any humans in it, and I know this station is of human origin. So that's out!
The human universes never got to reach the level of technological advancement that would allow them to build a station like this, for various apocalyptic reasons. So they're out, too!
The last universe I know of, the one I was just in, had a mix of trolls, humans, and carapace people. Any station built them would have been a joint venture. From what I can tell, this place was previously populated by humans only! That's probably out.
So, no. I think I can safely rule out any world that I'm aware of.

Is that how you arrived here?
[He was under the impression that everyone had just sort of shown up.]
Why...-[Nope, starting over.] How did the meteor move you across universes? Meteors are a common thing, but they do not move into other universes.
[Now he was starting to doubt the veracity of everything she'd said. Though, it was true, humans hadn't quite reached the level of technology needed to construct a station like this. And there was the issue of none of the stars visible from the station matching known star charts in his database.]

[She makes a face as he presses her on the meteor stuff she can't help the fact that her life is nonsensical.]
So, the part of the universe I was in doesn't follow normal space/time laws. You can travel in a direction and end up back before you started because things are so wonky. It's difficult -- but possible! -- to know where you're going, and I was with some people who were uniquely qualified to figure that out.
no subject
[It felt like a dead end, though his expression remained mostly the same, not showing the discouragement he felt.]
Is it safe to assume that if you knew a way to travel out of this universe and back to your own, you would have already left?
Have you seen anything on board or in the recordings of the previous crew that hint at traveling between universes? Does the technology on board seem capable of that sort of thing?
no subject
And man, I don't have much of a clue about what the previous crew were doing. All I know is that they were trying to test something. Who knows what?

It simply means you're in the same boat as the rest of us. [He offered her a small smile of consolation.]

But now I'm curious. So, you're a robot, right? I've never met one that looked so... realistic? Mostly they're all, you know. [She gestures with her hands, indicating a boxy shape.] They still look pretty artificial. All made of metal and stuff.
no subject
[He straightened up a little, listening attentively to her question... of lack of a question and more a series of statements.
He seemed to take it as a compliment.] Thank you. I'm a CyberLife android. I was designed to be as realistic as possible. Despite how I may appear, I am still just plastic and metal. [And a handful of other things, but mostly plastic and metal.]
no subject
But why bother making robots so realistic, though? Not that it's not cool or anything! It's quite rad, in my opinion. But I'm sure there are designs that would be... I don't know, more efficient than making a humanoid robot? Doesn't anyone find it kind of uncanny?
no subject
CyberLife wanted androids to integrating seamlessly among humans and their designs incorporate small flaws - freckles, moles, facial hair - in order to avoid the uncanny feeling you're referring to. This was partially why the Android Act was passed, requiring all androids to wear an LED ring, among other things, in public to identify them and distinguish them from humans.
[Alright, so that didn't exactly answer her question. He'd more or less told her what CyberLife did and not why they did it... mostly because he wasn't completely sure. He assumed it likely had something to do with all of the various functions androids were purchased for. Just let your imagination run wild, Terezi.]
no subject
[Terezi taps her chin as she thinks over his answer.] So, what are you guys for? I'm assuming that since so much care has been put into their appearances, and you have to be able to distinguish between them and humans at a glance, that androids are intended for service jobs and stuff like that, right? Doing the things that normally other humans would do but don't really want to?
no subject
[If anything, he sounded curious. She was an alien, therefore he really couldn't question any abilities that humans were incapable of. He did, however, assume that all trolls had similar abilities.]
That's correct. Androids are also often purchased as housekeepers. Janitorial work, repetitive jobs such as manufacturing or factory work, customer service, construction, sex work, and combat are all common.
no subject
So, what do you do?
no subject
[He also has an uncanny knack for spotting a lie, but that's what he was designed to do - increased heart rate, dilated pupils, subtle changes in the tone or volume of someone's voice.]
I'm a prototype, designed to assist detectives with crime scene investigations, interrogations, suspect apprehension and negotiation situations.
