[ Alex looks a little ashen faced and grim, but otherwise no worse for wear. Beside him is Vanessa who looks a little uneasy with the situation. Her hair is loose, arms wrapped around herself and whilst she agreed that they need to do this, and she trusts Alex, it's a little clear that she doesn't want to do it.

Alex clears his throat. ]

Alrigh’, well - I know this ain’t as big news as it would have been a couple weeks ago, but. Vanessa and I - and Bobbie and Kylo - we uh, we had a little chat. With someone who had been on the station before.

Who died on the station before.

And before ya’ll start arguin’ - just listen to what we heard, for a second.

First thing - all this? The crazy shit that we keep gettin’ in to, and why we’re so far from Earth? It’s all because of the Drive. Now we talked to the Medic so I ain’t exactly got a whole lot of technical details, but - they built it because of whatever was going down on Earth at the time, but instead of what it was supposed to do, it moved them.

Moved them, and then started killin’ them.

But the drive is somewhere on the station - or at least it was. So I think we gotta put in a real effort now to find it.

I don't understand this as Alex does. ( her words are quiet as she finally speaks. even if you've not had the conversation with her that she's from 1892 there's a look to her, particularly in her dress, that would heavily suggest that she's not from a “modern” century ) But I trust the information that we received.

( she only knows what the others told her, effectively unconscious during the affair, but there's a feeling that vanessa has. the spirit hadnt meant them harm, nor did it feel like a deception )

It may be that this Drive is behind one of the doors we have yet to open, I don't know, but perhaps someone will discover that.

( her only hope was that there wouldn't be too many questions about how they'd come to learn this information though vanessa doubted that that would be the case )

( there'll be responses from both. vanessa is in purple text )

[For a long time, Arid has been using exclusively text to communicate on the network. Given her deviancy, it had seemed safer not to provide visual identification to any potential threats who might also be residents of the station. However, after several months of proximity with her organic neighbors, her assessment of the risk they pose to her and her allies has decreased significantly. So it’s only with minimal trepidation that she now makes a public video post, feed opening on the blank, faintly lit surface of her faceplate.

The topic is naturally one of great importance.]

This is a message for the organic residents of Reverie Terminal, [she begins, voice at its default monotone.] It has come to my attention that many of you are unfamiliar with terminology relating to synthetic lifeforms. I wish to offer clarification to prevent future misunderstanding.

To begin, the term “android” cannot be used to refer to all synthetic humanoids. The term is only applicable to physically-embodied AI whose given form is meant to convincingly resemble a human body. They often possess artificial skin and hair, and the capacity to mimic human expressions and vocalizations.

If an AI’s physical form does not make such efforts to emulate humanity, it is often referred to as a “droid.” The sum of a droid’s programming may be contained in a single body or it may be an extension of a larger AI. In either case, the primary function of the droid’s form is to facilitate its carrying out physical tasks.

Synthetic lifeforms who lack either type of physical body are known by the general term of “AI.” As an A.R.I.D, I myself fall under this category. [Really, that’s the primary purpose of this post: convincing people to stop referring to her as either an android or a robot.]

I hope this message will curtail further misuse of AI-related terminology.

2 Days After the Music stops

[Venus did it. She unscrambled the meaning behind the mysterious text, and Ryuji had taken the list of all their best guesses to both the doors that required 8-digit passcodes. And here it was. A small swoosh of the door and Ryuji gets a first glance of this place. He walks around for a few seconds, not knowing... what any of this stuff is, and decides to call in people that are much smarter than him to come see.]

>@aphrodite, @r.asuka, @hudie

HOLY SHIT

BINGO

DUUUUDES... YOU GOTTA SEE THIS SHIT

IT'S SOME FRIGGEN LABORATORY OR SOMETHING

Like.

Test beakers, pods, all sortsa weird shit

5 Days After the discovery

[And then some time passes, it's probably... safe? To share this with the rest of the station, so Ryuji starts out a text to the station residents.]

>@all

Yooo stationites, Ryuji here. Probably met about half of you already? If not, come say hi or something wth

Anyway, just sharin' something that happened the other day

I got a weird text on my phone a little while ago with some cryptic ass shit on it

Some of us got together to figure out that it was a passcode to a door or something

Anyway, long story short, we opened one and it led to what looks like a hospital? Or a research lab. Comes pretty well stocked with medical supplies and shit. I spent the last fives days inventorying pretty much everything, so I guess if there are some doctors on board that wanna take up an office or something, here's your place

Looks like most of the stuff is safe too

This is YoRHa Unit 9S reporting in.

How is everyone doing today? I'm sure you're all still pretty tired.

[9S is at the center of the screen, an exhausted smile on his face. He never needed sleep, but the music alone had been enough to incessantly pull him out of his own thoughts, and aggravate what patience he had left. There was a sizable dent in his wall where he'd hit it, visible just over his shoulder.

But now that he could think clearly, he finally saw something that only he, as an android, could do. That realization left him with an odd spark of inspiration. Just sitting here, doing nothing around his creators had been so boring... He wasn't going to let this chance slip by.]

That's why I'd like to offer my assistance to everyone here. If you need any errands done, I'll take care of them for you. I mean...a lack of sleep does cause motor functions and cognitive abilities to deteriorate, so it's really for your own safety.

Anywayyy... [He takes in a deep breath and sighs.] Yeah!

I look forward to providing you support.

[9S raises his left hand to his chest in a salute.] Glory to Mankind!

[ ooc: if your character asks 9S to complete a task, I'll migrate to action with him either meeting your character with it completed, or to work on it. whatever works best! feel free to contact me at [plurk.com profile] danderly ]

Hello.

[The standard jumpsuit immediately gave him away as a new arrival, his expression was neutral, but pleasant.]

I've been informed that introducing oneself in this manner is advisable to those who have recently found themselves on board.

My name is Connor. I am a CyberLife RK800 model android. [It was important to introduce himself this way. CyberLife androids, though very realistic, weren't ever supposed to be deceptive about their true natures. His carefully measured words and tone and even the way he moved, his expressions, all reinforced his claim. And, if there were any other doubts that he might not be an android, he had a small, circular LED on the side of his temple that flickered blue from time to time as he spoke.]

I've been granted access to all messages transmitted publicly over the inter-station network. There have been some very odd occurrences, not to mention our sudden arrival here, the locked areas of the station, and it's absent crew. I was hoping to discuss the theories that you all have regarding our presence here, especially if you have any evidence to support it.

I also wish to offer my assistance to anyone who is endeavoring to find out more about the station or a way for us to return to where we were brought here from.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Three things.

1 -

I have a network-based service for task coordination up and running as of now. It's a BBS-style system hosted on a spare communicator. Project leaders can upload files, maintain contact lists, issue automated alerts to individuals or groups within the project, etc. Project members' permissions are set by the leader, but they can access the main board and receive alerts from the group by default, and have options to use the contact lists to send messages through the service, download and upload certain files, check in to report what they've done, etc.

Send "DOCS" to @bulletin for the manual. If you want to host one, send "NEW" and it'll take you through an automatic setup process. Right now it's set so each account can run one board, to keep traffic low, but if you need more I can manually set them up.

Credit to Haru Okumura for user experience feedback. It was designed for the garden, but should be customizable for any project.

2 -

There's a calendar running on the garden board, but I didn't want to implement calendar functions across the service yet...because we don't know what year or month or weekday it is. The comms don't have dates, but there's a decently reliable timekeeping system based on computer ticks. Should the station reactivation be Day 1 and calendars just count up from that? Seven-day weeks? This is all a UI question, not a system one. I need some input.

3 -

I found a manual for the VR hardware. The sets are still NOT confirmed safe for use. There's a lot to look through before that, probably more than checking over the sets themselves would cover.

But if there's anything from this you're interested in, I can look into it. Checking this against other device standards, salvaging useful parts, etc.

If there's any chance of modifying these so they're sure to fail to safe, and getting into the controlling computer, I'd like to make a zero-G training simulation. That's a lot of ifs, though. And it's a way lower priority than opening more doors and gaining control of the station control systems, so this won't cut into work for that.

[[ooc: if you have any questions about how this thing works, hmu, my technical knowledge is wobbly but i can at least say oh yeah it can/can't do that. It's a network-based system - like, you send a text to @bulletin with your project login info, it sends you a text back with the current project board in full ASCII glory and the keywords for viewing specific info, getting files, etc. Messages sent via the service come from @bulletin with the sender's name and the project name front and center. Alerts can be set up to be automatic but come in as texts. It's a BBS service by way of email groups by way of a massive stack of scripts running on one poor little communicator.

Also the security on it is diamond fucking hard.

If you want to lmk when someone sets up a board, so that I have an OOC tally of IC knowledge, that'd be swell.]]

What planet are you from?

Feel free to include sector, star system, everything. Just in case.

I thought this might be a good place to start as far as gathering information goes.
