Hey, ya'll.
[ Hi Reverie Fam, it's your resident faux texan Martian, here, his warm drawl caressing your ears. For those of you that have them and can still hear out of them, anyway. ]
So I've been thinkin'.
We've been gettin' access to some new areas, but I'll be honest and say that there's on in particular I've been most interested in gettin' in, but we might need a team to do it like we did for the door to Operations. We need to get into the Hangar Bay. We know there is one - the map up in operations made that clear, and I'm pretty sure I even know the exact door we need to get in. We just need to get in it.
So I thought--
[ He cuts off sharply with an ow!, and then there's a clattering noise as the communicator hits the floor. Silence for a couple seconds, and then in a breathless whisper that sounds like it's coming from several feet away: ]
Holy shit, where did these come from? [ There's another rustling and clattering and the next time his voice is audible, it's from much closer to the mic. ]
Folks, I think we've got a ride.
I think we've got two rides, and--Wait, what? Where the hell'd they go??
[The audio disconnects.]

Pulled back, and I was somewhere else entirely, lookin' at a ship. A drop ship, maybe, or a shuttle. And then I looked around, there was another one, but -
Then as soon as it started I was back here in the hall.

[Complains Ricki, wholeheartedly.]
I definitely, utterly do not know.

See if you can re-trigger it.

[ There's a pause, and then he walks forward purposely and says "Hanger Bay". Nothing. He does the same with "Need to get into the Hangar Bay", and again with "Observation Deck." All nothing.
He sighs. ]
That woulda been too easy, right?
no subject
[Agrees Ricki, without rancor.]
Okay, if that didn't do it, then what the hell just happened?
no subject
I don't know why the hell anythin' happens on this god damned station, I just walk into it, apparently.
no subject
I bet we could check for a big external facing bay door for something like a hangar.
no subject
You seen the map up in operations, yet? Might give you the general layout.
no subject
I guess this is as good a sign as any that it's time to get serious.

[He disconnects, and comes trotting back up. He's been coasting for a little too long; it's time to get in the fight.]

[ Alex heads up himself, though he gets there a couple minutes before Ricki does, and is waiting by the door while he taps away on his communicator. When he spots the other man he raises a hand in greeting, then leans back to press the console to get the door to slide open. ]
Alrigh'. So, we know the map ain't fully complete, but it gives us an idea of where everythin's supposed to be, at least.
no subject
[Agrees Ricki, leaning it on, internalizing it, orienting himself easily and turning on a focus and professionalism he generally does not bother with.]
So the places that are blocked off would be here, here- and all through here?
no subject
[ Alex's voice is still it's smooth, laid back drawl, though there's a note of excitement still left over from his brief jaunt into the hangar. ]
This here is where the hangar bay is, and if I'm right, should have at least two ships in it. The video that Mike and Miller found mentioned a Drive, but - hell if I can figure out where it's 'sposed to be. Might be on one of the ships.

So on other space stations, what do you put near what? A- what- there must be some kind of philosophy to how the structure's organized.

But generally, things tend to be put in places where they make the most sense. The main gardens tend to be next to the water treatment facilities, 'cause they often use plants to help with the water treatment. Everythin' that we need to live tends to be on the Habitat ring, the part that's spinnin', since that's where the gravity is. Air locks and hangars tend to be in the non-moving areas of the station. But it's a bit like city plannin' - there's lots of reasons to put some things in some places and you can argue for a long time.

[He says, running his fingertips along the map again.]
Hangar. You're right, it's definitely the next step. And after that- it'd probably to get a good peek at the electrical mains.
no subject
Like a drive.
Or a teleporter.
no subject
And- for that matter- to find out what kind of banks we've got and how long they're going to last.
no subject
Assumin' we'd be able to tell them apart, anyway.
Yeah. Not gonna lie, I'd like to get a better idea of our power generation and usage in general, but. At least we know we got enough air and water to last us a while.

[He points out, with a huff of a laugh through his nose.]
We need a handle on this.
no subject
That's somethin' we definitely need a handle on.

Yes'sir.
