two questions is it normal for humans to lose limbs like ive seen some bugs that just grow them back are you all like that or what and secondly are they finders keepers i mean youre obviously not using them anymore so like why do you need them right

because i found an arm just wanna know if someones claimed it or not since it was just kind of there

[There's a pause because she has to psych herself up a bit to actually say her species. Or write it, anyway. Pearl said it would be okay at home, so saying it here is just good practice, maybe.] I'm an octoling. I evolved from an octopus.
I guess I look kind of like a human most of the time. I'm from Earth, so maybe that has something to do with it.

It's really more useful to have hands most of the time, too. But moving around wouldn't be too bad if I had something to shoot ink with.

It's ink I make in my body. I can swim through it. It's faster than walking.

I don't mind, you're not being as weird about it as some people have been. [Gundam.] What do you look like? Are you a "human knockoff", or do you look some other way?

well honestly actually hang on

[Lapis switches to the video function, so that the other end can see her in all her blue human knockoff glory.]

This is sort of my base form? I can look like anything I want. My actual form is, uh, the Lapis Lazuli. [Which involves stretching in a weird angle for Lapis to get it on camera, but thankfully, Gems don't have bones!]

That's actually me. [She bends back to normal.] Everything else is just a solid projection of light. I can change my form whenever I want, however I want.

[Marina turns on her video as well, waving a little at the screen. The tentacles on her head and her eyes are what stand out as most obviously inhuman.] That's really cool. I can change my ink color [The teal on her tentacles changes to pink and then back again], and change shape like this.

[There's a pause as Marina has to set her communicator down and adjust it so it's showing the floor correctly. Then, it's like she melts into teal liquid, shrinking down into a teal octopus.

She waves a tentacle.]
