We should start keeping track of the missing.
[That's two more good friends, in the span of a couple of days, and the loss isn't easy to push through. But it's not time to get sad, or scared. It's time to get angry, get moving, get ahead.
Someone had once suggested they were going home, all of the vanished people. But no matter how hard she hopes, Clara just can't make herself believe it. Things don't work that way. Why would their captors just toss them back, like lucky fish? It doesn't make sense.]
I've got a few working theories, but none of them are very nice, so I'm open to suggestions.

[She knows she doesn't need any surnames.]
And Jessica, earlier this month.
no subject
[ well, shit. ]
I didn't know Jessica, but sorry if she was your friend.
no subject
[And Clara returned the favor.]
But I want to know she's safe. I've got a duty.

[ goddammit. ]
You okay?
no subject
[One answer for both his questions.]
Just... a couple of people I liked quite a lot.

[ jim knows that a few people he's met, even gotten friendly with, have disappeared lately but this sounds like something deeper than that. ]
Can I do anything?
no subject
[It's the same thing she said to Frank, and she means it just as much.]

My best friend is missing. I've looked for him everywhere.
no subject
Oh, I'm so sorry. [It's not just a platitude; it's genuine. She knows that precise pain.] What's his name?
no subject
Bodhi. Bodhi Rook.
no subject
You picked a good one. [As briefly as they talked, Clara had already become quite fond of him.] I'll do everything I can to find him.

Private
Are you okay?
no subject
Yeah. I'm good.
[What she is is a liar, but she's trying to hold everything in. Be a leader, not a mourner.]
They're my friends, but there are people here who've known them for a lot longer. They're the ones who need support, not me.
no subject
That doesn't make it hurt any less.
[And they weren't the only ones who needed support, clearly.]
Who were they?

Alex is gone? [She finds the possibility more unpleasant than she’d care to admit. He had seemed like he could have been a valuable ally...]
You refer to the pilot of the ship designated “Roci.”
no subject
[She can't think of these people as "gone". That would mean they were irretrievable, and she's hoping beyond hope that that isn't the case.]
no subject
It is possible he was transported to another part of the station, as he was before. We may still be able to find him and the others who have disappeared through further exploration.

I think - [ no, that's not quite right. ] I hope they've returned back home.
no subject
She's not that cold, yet.]
I hope so too. I hope they're safe. They're good men.
no subject
They are.
[ he already misses them. amos had been his gravity in many ways. alex a good friend. and yet, he can't wish for them to be back here, can he? not if they really have gone home. ]
What are your working theories?
