Hi. My name is Captain Steve Rogers. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Where I come from, protecting people was very important to me. It still is. This ship is dangerous and I think we're getting side-tracked from an important conversation here.

I don't think we should worry too much about that roster file we were sent, but it's not a bad idea to have some sort of security team that can respond to a crisis and keep track of everything we have figured out about this place so far. I'd like to help with any effort like that, but it might be best if we wait before assigning rank to anyone. Fighting over who's the boss or throwing baseless orders around isn't going to help anyone or keep them safe. Our priorities should be safety and finding a way to leave.

It's been suggested to me that some of the things that have been happening to us could be some sort of security response from the ship. Does anyone with a better understanding of computers want to weigh in on that? Can anyone try to access those systems? There's still a lot of the station that we can't access and I know some of us have been trying to work on that.

Finally, if there's anything else I can help with, please reach out to me.

I think people have misunderstood what I want to do. I don't want anyone to have power over the rest of us. This would be for dealing with outside threats and organizing information that would be available to everyone. Anyone who wanted to help would be welcome.

We're going to have to find a balance that lets us stay organized and as safe as we can be without making anyone feel powerless. That's not what I want. I don't want to lead anything.

It's not what any effective leader should want. Taking charge isn't about putting anyone else down - it's about putting everyone else before yourself, and being accountable for them.

That aside, though, a single leader calling all the shots isn't what we need. This isn't just a crisis, anymore. We're a community, and a community needs systems. Someone to monitor supply levels, someone to coordinate emergency response, that sort of thing.

You're not wrong. I think any major decisions, we should come to as a community, but we do need to find ways to get more organized with information.

We do. We're all trying to solve the same puzzle, so we need to know who has which pieces. Who can be in charge of what tasks, and such.

[unshielding]

Unfortunately, I'm getting the feeling that there might be a lot of people who don't want to cooperate with each other. We're going to have to find a way to convince everyone that it's best for all of us to work together here.

[oddbod]

I've found people are usually reluctant to give into a suggestion until they see how it benefits them. They want to know why they should listen to you.

[A general "you", that is. Not Steve specifically.]

[ Steve can't help the soft chuckle. It's been a while since this was really a problem for him. Maybe he's relied a little too heavily on the mantle of Captain America in the past. ]

You're right. Maybe I should have spoken a little more about myself. It's usually not my first instinct.

[oddbod]

Not too late to do it now.

[Her cheeky grin is audible.]

Captain, then? Of what?

[unshielding]

I was in the army. Now, I guess it's just a name that stuck.

[ He's not Captain America anymore, is he? ]

Does it bother you?

[She's only known one ex-soldier, and he would not have liked the reminder.]

[unshielding]

No. I was proud to serve my country and to be a symbol of that.

[ Now, things are a little different, but he doesn't have to get into that, does he? ]

[oddbod]

[Clara's face doesn't fall, but her smile tightens a bit. It's clear that Steve is from a much different time.]

... I'm glad it was a war worth fighting. Not all of them are.

[unshielding]

No, they aren't.

[ He can't help but agree. There are times when the fighting seems like a horrible waste of lives or even when he can't help questioning which side is right. ]
