Hi. My name is Captain Steve Rogers. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. Where I come from, protecting people was very important to me. It still is. This ship is dangerous and I think we're getting side-tracked from an important conversation here.
I don't think we should worry too much about that roster file we were sent, but it's not a bad idea to have some sort of security team that can respond to a crisis and keep track of everything we have figured out about this place so far. I'd like to help with any effort like that, but it might be best if we wait before assigning rank to anyone. Fighting over who's the boss or throwing baseless orders around isn't going to help anyone or keep them safe. Our priorities should be safety and finding a way to leave.
It's been suggested to me that some of the things that have been happening to us could be some sort of security response from the ship. Does anyone with a better understanding of computers want to weigh in on that? Can anyone try to access those systems? There's still a lot of the station that we can't access and I know some of us have been trying to work on that.
Finally, if there's anything else I can help with, please reach out to me.
[ And a later text that follows: ]
I think people have misunderstood what I want to do. I don't want anyone to have power over the rest of us. This would be for dealing with outside threats and organizing information that would be available to everyone. Anyone who wanted to help would be welcome.

this is venus. we met a week or two ago.
i'm glad to see you're doing okay.
buuuuut
i think... i'm going to have to disagree with you.
i don't think we need a security force? or anything like it.
actually, i think giving some people power over everyone else is kind of a dick move.
but maybe that's just me.

Furthermore, creating a group to police each other sets a bad precedent, in my opinion. There is nothing guaranteeing that a self-selected group would have the best interests of us all at heart, or that they would be better equipped to determine what is best for us all in the case of interpersonal conflict.

Theoretically, the station itself could be causing those noises and liquified walls and everything else. But theoretically, everything could be a simulation, even the normal things. It's hard to tell without knowing what kind of hardware is built into the station.

First, Captain Steve Rogers as in CAPTAIN AMERICA: STEVE ROGERS?!
Second, if you're here, who is going to rescue us?
Third, no seriously we have an Avenger here and no one's come for us? Didn't you set off a distress beacon by now? You must have something for when you're kidnapped, right?
Fourth, since you're here and no one's come for us, does this mean we're kind of screwed?
text;
2. We may have to rescue ourselves.
3. I don't think I do have anything like that, but I'm not the only former Avenger here.
4. I think it's too early to give up, don't you?

A security team made up of random people that no-one knows or trusts. There's just no possible way that can go wrong.

It's a pity leadership tends to snowball into rank. Crisis without structure can be chaos; we need to be organized.

Even more worrying than someone being smarter than me at hacking, it means someone is keeping an eye on us and our activity. At least that's what I've gathered. Which, really, isn't surprising. I'd be more surprised if we were actually alone on here.

I can absolutely confirm that the ship hits you with the feelings of faintness and exhaustion when you try to damage it. We've tested it now on several people, interacting with the machinery in a variety of ways.
One possible insight might have to do with the environment we've been stuck in. If the outside wall of one level of the station, one section, even, is punctured for some reason, then it would need to be immediately sealed off. Anyone on the wrong side of that seal would die.
[Agonizingly, but Jasnah isn't an emotional woman, would rather not overstate to make a point.]
Breaches in that perimeter mean more space- and lives- lost. We need to explore, we need to escape, but we need to be systematic about not simply knocking down walls- or at the very least, sealing our damage up behind us as we go.

For all we know, it's only a matter of time. We don't know what level of disrepair we're dealing with here.

But there's always the capacity for people, even with the best intentions at heart, to end up hurting the people they're supposed to protect
It's not even a power thing, it's kinda just a messed up way of human nature, yknow?
I'm gonna have to say it's a bad idea... we don't know what the threats are, but putting us in some sorta position to have to worry about that now is gonna come back to bite us in the ass

If we do nothing and we prepare for nothing, it's like sticking our heads in the sand and pretending we weren't just transported across space to an abandoned space station that seems to be toying with us.

[ even as someone universally suspicious of authority, she recognises the need for teamwork and a capable group on call. rogers seems to be going about things in the right manner. ]
I was a comms jockey on the starship Nostromo. The lockdown is a normal security response, particularly in the event of a threat or contagion, but the other happenings are more anomalous.

No luck on the computer access. At least so far. Our terminals can all talk to each other, but someone's cut off access outside these decks.
Or, to most systems inside them.
[The voice through the speaker is male, tone light and friendly, if a little tense. A hint of humor picks up as it continues.]
It looks like your security efforts are going about as well.

You wouldn't happened to have found any sort of tech or engineering manuals, have you? My friend Henryk is trying to get his hands on something like that if we can find it.
