CW: CHARACTER DEATH
[ The woman in the video is in her 30s, her distinctive hair loose around her shoulders, the white stripes making her pale skin quite noticeable. She shifts nervously as the message begins to broadcast, her expression uneasy while her eyes don't quite focus on the camera. Sure, she's looking in that general direction, she's just... not actually seeing anything. After a few moments, she finally speaks, southern drawl thick with nerves that make the words waver slightly. ]
Has anyone... Has anyone died recently? Here, on the station?
[ A pause. ]
Has anyone else died and woken up again?

Something happened when we lost gravity. I couldn't move and--
I died. I was dead and then I wasn't.

@CROW » text.
I checked your vitals.
You were definitely dead.
no subject
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
[ Yes, the woman who died is more concerned about the person who had to find her dead body than she is over what actually happened to her. Also, thank goodness for voice-to-text. ]

[ Of course she'd be the only one. These things only ever seem to happen to her, why should now be any different. ]
I'm glad.

[ didn't want to die either. the uncertainty over his cortical stack and what would happen to that on the station was a little concerning. he'd rather not go on ice up here because no one knew what the fuck to do. ]
But, I've died and woken up several times in the past.
Something like that happen to you recently?
[ he was going to hazard a guess and considering how she'd phrased her last question, he was pretty sure he was right. ]
Feeling a little sleeve sick?

[The video that comes on is of a teenage boy, sounding equally shocked and alarmed at the woman he'd thought was dead being, well. Not dead.]
I, um... sorry. I'm Hajime Hinata. Akechi brought you to the infirmary, after, um... what happened in the gym. I should have been there when you woke up, I'm sorry.
[For some reason, he didn't think the corpse that Goro had brought would be, you know. Alive again. He'd been freaked out and enough when her body had gone missing.]

I'm sorry you had to find out like this. I didn't know anyone else had been involved or I would have found you first.

Erika watches Hinata's exchange with her first, and skims some other conversations, and waits for the sour-stomach feeling of deep misgivings to fade. It doesn't quite. That'll have to be fine. The clean, mathematical process of building a custom filter puts down the bones of routine; she plans out what she'll say, then counts down to it in the seconds it takes for the code to do its work.]
You're the only one recorded.
[Erika's voice is young and rather flat, pressed clean of emotional creases. "I'm glad you're okay" - Hinata covered that. Erika isn't sure if she can say it without feeling like she's lying, because "okay" is a relative measure. And they're strangers anyways, in all the ways currently relevant, and she's not sure that condolences out of her mouth will be of any help.
Pause.]
My body isn't quite the same as it was before waking up here. It might be related. [Pause.] How clear are your memories of - I want to gather information. Subjective information. Do you - can I ask questions?
[There is the faintest rumpling of that flatness, an awkward fumbling in her tone that slips free for a moment.]
no subject
The lack of condolences and platitudes is refreshing, really. There's been a lot of the same since she sent out this message, and it's nice to have someone just getting down to business. It makes it easier for Rogue herself to deal with her current situation. ]
My memories are perfectly clear. You can ask me any questions you need to.

I've died before and woken up. Not here, but...somewhere else.

I'm so sorry you've experienced that, sugar. Is it-- Is that something normal for you?

I'm not sure if anyone else has, but it's something I'll help you get to the bottom of. Are you -
[There's no delicate way to ask this.]
Do you remember what happened?
no subject
Perfectly. I was in the gym when we lost gravity, and since I'd been running, my boots weren't on. Something happened and I couldn't move, and I floated around a bit before drowning in the pool water.
[ It's probably the twentieth time she's told the story, so please forgive her succinctness. ]

I've mostly just been trying to get through the days without any more Accidents, honestly.
