can someone tell me what kind of animal this is?



i've never seen anything like it before and i don't think it likes me very much but it lives here now?? not in my part of the quarters though

something completely different
i've been trying to get the bar into working shape and i used to work as a bartender back home, which i liked
if i can be more useful doing something else, let me know, but if not
would anyone mind if i try to keep the bar in shape and run it? not for money, just for something to do
some of the bottles there have stuff that's still good so we might as well

i don't think we should wait for life support to stop working
but while we're stuck here
we can try to figure out how to help each other
how to make it as bearable as possible too

We have no access to the parts of the ship that could tell us if we're already dead or not
so why bother

because it'll make whatever is going on better
less miserable, at least

[ less miserable. it's never really been his prerogative before, but there's merit to what she says and even he knows it. ]

Lets just start with the booze

( it's always been her raison d'etre. avoid misery, help others avoid it to the largest extent, too. make the world a little bit better, a little bit brighter. what else is there? )

[ in a few moments, miller is shuffling next door and slumping onto an empty stool chosen completely at random. he drops his elbow on the bar and leans his face into his hand as he takes her in, realizing he's never seen her before now. young, pretty, blonde. they really shouldn't hang out but if she's gatekeeping the liquor she'll have to deal with him either way. ]

Surprise me. [ it's dry, his voice raspy like he just woke up not too long ago. all this garbage seems to taste basically the same, so he's not about to be picky. ]

( kat doesn't really recognise them, but she can put two and two together. and she's not gatekeeping the liquor, she's just keeping busy. there's a difference. really. hopefully. she thinks there is, at any rate. )

I can do that.

( keeping busy also means she has a decent idea by now of what's there and what isn't, which means she has a decent idea of what to make him. which is something akin to an old-fashioned in taste, at least, if not in actual composition. )

[ he accepts her offering with an uncertain little smile, sniffing the drink before bringing the glass to his lips. whatever it is, he can already tell it'll go down smoother than whatever that rocket fuel alex and he drank was. miller takes a gulp of it before setting the glass between his hands on the bartop. ]
